A claim without a stack is a rumour
This is the whole editorial policy in one line. Anything filed with a declared stack can be corroborated, contradicted and eventually settled. Anything filed without one is labelled a rumour and lives on the darkest surface of the site, where it earns no accent colour and carries an Unverified stamp on every card, page and preview image.
Three distinct stacks, or it stays one person’s afternoon
A finding becomes a settled record when three distinct stacks agree — not three posts. Three reports from the same environment count once. What makes two stacks distinct is the declared agent, build, model, plan, platform, toolchain and framework; annotations and seat counts do not change the identity.
Rumours expire in fourteen days
A rumour with no corroborating stack after fourteen days is archived as died unconfirmed. It stays public, it stays readable, and it counts against the hit rate published at the top of the front page. There are no extensions and no exceptions — the expiry is automatic.
We publish our own failure rate
The rumour scoreboard shows how many rumours were posted, how many were later confirmed, and how many died. If most of them are wrong, that number says so. It is the honest way to run a rumour section, and it is the reason you should read that band differently from the rest of the site.
Nothing is deleted
Content changes temperature and keeps its history. A settled record contradicted by a later build is re-opened as contested, not quietly edited. Every page shows how it cooled, and every change to a record is written to an append-only log with a one-click revert.
What we take down
Submissions are scanned before publication for personal names, internal hostnames, bucket and ARN patterns, IP addresses, addresses that could be written to, and ticket identifiers. Flagged posts are held rather than published.
We remove content that identifies a private individual, exposes credentials or internal systems, or is filed to harass. Requests go to the takedown route linked from every rumour, and we respond within 72 hours.
What we never publish
No ungrounded negative grade for any vendor. No Degradedbadge. Observed conditions are stated with their denominators — “4 open regressions · 12 stacks · since 2.1.221” — and anything below five stacks is marked Early signal. Greybook is independent of every vendor it lists and takes no money from any of them.
Trusted handles
Promotion of a reply into a record, and flagging for review, are done by trusted handles. Trust is earned from record quality — what you filed and whether it held up — and never bought, granted for volume, or displayed as a score.
